Citigroup and Central China Securities will soon apply to Chinese regulators to set up an investment-banking joint venture, sources said yesterday. The new company would be Citigroup's first such venture in China. A man of about thirty was watching my cousin Jenya and me while we waited for the bus. The man listened closely to our conversation and then he walked up to us and started up small talk, asking us questions like "What time is it?" and "Will bus twelve take me to Coach Park?" He invited us to a café and we accepted. He treated us to a beer. He told us that he was from Moscow, and he was visiting some friends. We didn't have a clue that our new acquaintance had planned that meeting for a long time. The encounter seemed totally accidental. Before he had met us, the man had already learned almost everything about Jenya and me. His girlfriend lived in my village, and she told him about our families, what we did, who our friends were, how much our parents made, and what our thoughts were about sex.
Here are some tips about tipping servers
For years, I worked at probably the two most-popular restaurant chains in the country.
I think some people are ignorant of how servers depend on their tips.
At the restaurants I worked, servers earned about $2.13 per hour. We had to serve the guests, pre-bus their tables and, in many cases, give back a percentage of their sales to the hostesses and bartenders.
In other words, it actually cost the servers money to wait on customers. They actually started out in the hole.
So tips are how servers pay the bills. They earn $2.13 plus tips, so guests can pay $10 instead of $20 for that juicy steak.
Most of the servers I worked with were college students and single mothers � people who liked the flexibility that restaurant schedules offered.
Peter has sights set on tribute to mum
Peter has been a soldier for seven years. Always a keen sportsman, he joined the Army for the physical challenges it offered. "I'm into fitness so I saw being in the army as a fitness challenge," he says. "I'm quite sporty. If I was at home I'd be playing golf at Carrick Knowe Golf Club or in Dalkeith.
